A plan for a new Brighton Cricket Academy

A new Brighton Cricket Academy is currently under development and the aim is to be open in September 2025. The Brighton Cricket Academy will offer aspiring cricketers, and those new to the game, the opportunity to develop their cricket alongside studying for a degree. The academy provides opportunities for student cricketers of any age, gender, background and ability to play and enjoy cricket, and support players to fulfil their potential in both sport and academia.

The Brighton Cricket Academy is a partnership between Square One Education and the 91精品福利视频 and offers a world-class training environment with the highest quality coaching in one of the world's largest indoor facilities for cricket.

The academy will be open to all 91精品福利视频 students at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate level and is designed for aspiring professional cricketers but caters for all aspirations.

What will the Brighton Cricket Academy do for me?

  1. You’ll benefit from a holistic programme that works alongside the academic year, with sessions to develop all areas of your game. The programme will be individually tailored to ensure you are challenged.
  2. You’ll benefit from being part of a talented group of players as you develop your unique skill set.
  3. A significant feature of the Brighton Cricket Academy is our collaborative working with county cricket boards across the country. These relationships extend to offering access to training and playing in professional cricket environments and providing access to the game at elite level for students on the programme who excel.
  4. The coaching team has a proven track record of supporting players to achieve their goals with many gaining opportunities in professional cricket.

Academy programmes

Programme levels

The Brighton Cricket Academy programme plans to run yearly alongside the academic calendar, making it suitable for all students on a course lasting for at least one year. Three programme levels are offered: Academy Plus, Academy and Academy Lite.

Each of the proposed programmes will be suitable for players of all ability with group sessions being tiered to provide stretch and support at an appropriate level. The individual nature of the Academy and Plus programme means that players are working at their own pace and level and could equally benefit a passionate beginner or a professional cricketer.

The closed-season programme consists of one-to-one, group and skill-set coaching with highly qualified and experienced professional staff. You'll have access to lab-based physiological testing, individualised strength and conditioning coaching, and performance psychology support.

The in-season programme continues to the end of the academic year and includes a Brighton Cricket Academy match programme.

If selected, you will also have access to BUCS and Sussex Premier League teams to supplement game-play opportunities.

You can expect:

  • personalised strength and conditioning screening, programming and coaching – weekly individual or small group sessions in our on-campus performance suite
  • small group and whole cohort field-based conditioning using our indoor and outdoor facilities
  • annual lab-based fitness testing in our CASES-accredited sport science laboratories
  • a series of performance psychology and lifestyle management seminars
